The 5 mistakes that (really) ruin a transport

We see them every season. Five classic mistakes, and five very simple ways to avoid them.

1. Setting off without checking the trailer

Tires, brakes, lights, hitch… and above all the floor, the absolute weak point: a rotten floor can give way. You inspect it under the mat, not on top.

2. Neglecting hydration

A horse that does not drink 'backs up': a risk of colic. Get it used to flavored water and offer some at every stop.

3. Driving 'as usual'

With a horse on board, every time you brake is an effort for it. Anticipate everything, double your following distances, forget about speed.

4. Tying too short, or too long

Too short, and it cannot lower its head to clear its airways. Too long, and it gets a leg over the rope. The right length: the head can drop to chest level, no lower.

5. Underestimating the duration

'We'll do it in one shot.' No. Beyond 8 hours, an overnight stop changes everything for recovery.

None of these mistakes is inevitable. Ten minutes of checks the night before, and you set off with peace of mind.
